DISTRICT GOVERNOR ALLAN STALKER’s HOME PAGE
Allan first became a Lion in 1960 at the age of 23 when he was invited to join the Idaho Falls Russets by his father-in-law, Jess Gisler, a Charter Member of the club. Allan had married Phyllis Jean Gisler in December 1958 and had moved to Idaho Falls to work for Westinghouse Electric Corporation. He was only in the club for three years, one year as Tailtwister and one as Secretary, when he was transferred to Pittsburgh PA to earn his Doctorate in Chemistry at Carnegie-Mellon University while working full time for the Westinghouse Electric Corporation.
He returned to Idaho Falls in the fall of 1969 to work at the then NRTS at the NRF facility and rejoined the Russets. Allan held the positions of Tailtwister, Secretary, 3rd VP, 2nd VP, 1st VP, and President (1975-76) and a director several times. In mid 1981 Allan moved to Marietta, Georgia with the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) and transferred to the Cobb County Lions.
He moved back to Idaho Falls in December 1983 and rejoined the Russets at that time. He moved back to Marietta, Georgia in early 1986 and resigned in good standing. He had a position with Georgia Power followed by the Southern Nuclear Operating Company in Birmingham, Al that required a lot of travel.
He moved to Broomfield CO to work at Rocky Flats in mid 1991 and then in 1997 he moved to Longmont CO and joined the Longmont Columbine Lions Club where he served as 3rd VP then President (2000-01). He became a Trustee for the Colorado Lions Foundation, where he served as secretary for 1.5 years.
In January of 2002 Allan retired and moved back to Idaho Falls and rejoined the Russets again. Allan served as 3rd VP President in 2004-05, Zone F Chairman in 2003-04 and 2004-05 and club Secretary (2005-07). In January at the District 93 Mid Winter Convention, Lion Allan agreed to be appointed Vice District Governor and assume the position immediately. He is the District Governor for 2007-08.
